Kim Hye-seong Hits First Home Run of Season as Los Angeles Dodgers Defeat Mets 8-2
Kim Hye-seong hit his first home run of the season. He helped the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York Mets 8-2 on Wednesday at Dodger Stadium.
Kim smashed a two-run homer in the second inning. He faced Mets starter Clay Holmes with a runner on second. He connected on a hanging sinker and sent it 372 feet to right field. The hit gave the Dodgers a 2-0 lead.
Mixed Performance at the Plate
Kim started at shortstop and batted ninth. However, he struck out in his next three at-bats. He went down against Holmes in the fourth inning. Later, he struck out against Tobias Myers and Devin Williams.
Despite the strikeouts, his home run remained a key moment. It helped set the tone for the game.
Dodgers Stay Hot in NL West
The Dodgers have now won three straight games. They improved to a 14-4 record. This keeps them on top of the National League West.
The defending champions continue to show strong form early in the season.
Kim’s Stats Since Call-Up
Kim has a .278 batting average in eight games. He returned from Triple-A earlier this month. In spring training, he hit .407. However, he struggled with plate discipline.
He had only one walk and eight strikeouts in 27 at-bats. Since his call-up, he has eight strikeouts in 18 at-bats. His walk numbers remain low.
During his 2025 rookie season, the gap was even bigger. He recorded 52 strikeouts and just seven walks in 161 at-bats.
Lee Jung-hoo’s Performance in Giants Loss
Meanwhile, Lee Jung-hoo had a solid outing for the San Francisco Giants. He went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park.
Lee raised his batting average to .213. He has reached base multiple times in four of his last five games.
However, the Giants lost 8-3. It marked their fourth straight defeat. They now sit at 6-12. They are tied with the Colorado Rockies at the bottom of the NL West.
