Iran President Publishes Open Letter to American Public Amid Rising Tensions
Masoud Pezeshkian has released an open letter addressed to the American public. In the letter, he questions U.S. motives in the ongoing conflict and calls for a reassessment of relations between Iran and the United States.
Pezeshkian argues that the relationship between the two nations suffers from deep misunderstandings. He also challenges whether the current war truly serves American interests.
Iran Questions U.S. War Objectives
In the letter, Pezeshkian directly questions Washington’s priorities. He asks whether the “America First” policy still guides the U.S. government.
He also raises concerns about the purpose of the war. He asks what real benefits the American people gain from the conflict. He further questions whether Iran poses any objective threat that justifies military action.
Pezeshkian states that Iran has acted in self-defense. He insists that the country has not pursued expansionist policies in modern history. He also claims Iran has never initiated a war.
Message to the American People
The Iranian president emphasizes that Iranian citizens do not hold hostility toward other nations. He specifically mentions people in the United States, Europe, and neighboring countries.
He warns that attacks on Iran’s infrastructure create consequences beyond its borders. According to him, such actions harm both Iranians and civilians in other regions.
Iran Denies Ceasefire Request
Iran has rejected claims that it asked for a ceasefire. On April 1, Esmaeil Baghaei denied statements made by Donald Trump.
Earlier, Trump said on Truth Social that Iran had requested a ceasefire. He stated that the U.S. would only consider it if Iran reopened the Strait of Hormuz. He also warned that U.S. attacks would continue until then.
Timing Ahead of Trump’s Address
Pezeshkian released the letter just hours before Trump’s expected national address. The speech will focus on the conflict, which has lasted for more than a month.
A White House official said Trump plans to reaffirm his goal of ending the war within two to three weeks. He is also expected to provide an update on military progress.
U.S. Military Objectives Remain Unclear
According to officials, the U.S. aims to destroy Iran’s missile systems and production facilities. It also seeks to eliminate Iran’s naval capabilities and limit its support for regional proxy groups. Another key goal is to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
However, Trump has not confirmed whether he will deploy ground troops. The administration has also not provided a detailed long-term strategy.
This speech will mark Trump’s first major national address on the conflict. Since the campaign began in late February, he has offered limited details about military objectives.
On March 31, Trump said he expects the war to end within two to three weeks. This timeline is slightly longer than the initial four-to-six-week estimate from the White House.
