Bam Adebayo delivered a historic performance on Tuesday night. The Miami Heat star scored 83 points in a 150–129 win over the Washington Wizards. As a result, he recorded the second-highest single-game scoring total in National Basketball Association history.

Most importantly, Adebayo surpassed the 81-point game by Kobe Bryant in 2006. However, the all-time record still belongs to Wilt Chamberlain, who scored 100 points in 1962.

A Blazing Start for Bam Adebayo

Adebayo started the game in incredible form. In fact, he scored 31 points in the first quarter alone. Consequently, Miami quickly built momentum early in the game.

By halftime, Adebayo had already scored 43 points. This total set a new Miami Heat franchise record for points in a half.

In addition to his scoring, Adebayo also broke multiple NBA records. He made 36 free throws and attempted 43 during the game.

Previously, the record for made free throws was 28, shared by Wilt Chamberlain and Adrian Dantley. Meanwhile, Dwight Howard held the record for attempts with 39.

Therefore, Adebayo set two new NBA single-game free-throw records.

New Miami Heat Franchise Records

Furthermore, Adebayo broke several Miami Heat team records. His 83-point performance became the highest-scoring game in franchise history.

Previously, the record belonged to LeBron James, who scored 61 points in 2014.

Notably, Adebayo’s previous career high was only 41 points, which he recorded in 2021 against the Brooklyn Nets.

Dominant Performance Throughout the Game

Adebayo played 42 minutes in the historic victory. During that time, he shot 20-of-43 from the field and 7-of-22 from three-point range. In addition, he converted 36-of-43 free throws and grabbed nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Miami controlled most of the game. The Heat led 40–29 after the first quarter. Later, they extended the lead to 76–62 at halftime.

By the end of the third quarter, Miami led 113–97. At that point, Adebayo had already scored 62 points, breaking the previous franchise record.

Heat Extend Winning Streak

Despite several injuries, Miami continued its strong run. The team played without Tyler Herro, Norman Powell, Andrew Wiggins, Kel’el Ware, and Nikola Jovic.
